The luxury accessory brand has its origins in saddlery and upmarket leather processing. Thierry Hermès founded a bridle shop in Paris in 1837. While the focus of the company changed over the years, it did not deviate from its dedication to functional use. Today’s bags, foulards and other accessories are playful, imaginative and innovative.
In 1978, the company founded its own watch manufacture in Biel/Bienne, where Hermès watches have been crafted ever since. An example of one of the most famous designs is the Cape Cod model by Henri d’Origny, which, with its square shape and unmistakable number typography, breaks with conventional ideas about ladies’ watches. Even today, the Cape Cod, like other models from Hermès, remains one of the most popular ladies’ watches.
«The French family business is world-famous for its high-quality accessories fashioned from the finest leather. That’s something that holds sway aalso at the watch manufacturer in Biel/Bienne – such as in the form of its fashionable and modern double bracelets.»
